Illinois State Police have shut down the inbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway at Diversey, as they investigate a shooting which left two people wounded. CBS 2’s Mike Puccinelli reports.
Chicago police, Illinois State Police, firefighters, and paramedics responded about 3:29 a.m. Thursday February 14, 2019 on the inbound Kennedy Expressway near Diversey Avenue — and the slip ramp.
Chicago police and Illinois State police arrived first to find a 19 year-old and a 20 year-old woman shot. They were both transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center by Chicago Fire Department paramedics. The male victim was listed in serious condition and the female victim, shot in the left thigh, was listed in fair-to-serious condition.
Police closed the inbound Kennedy Expressway lanes, diverting traffic to the reversibles, to search the pavement for shell casings. The closure from Diversey to Fullerton caused extensive delays.
No suspects were in custody Thursday morning, and initially there was no description available for any suspect(s).
