ICY SLIP AND FALL HAZARD THIS MORNING …
Air temperatures have been very close to freezing, reaching 33°F overnight. Some pavement in Arlington Heights and northwest suburbs has a light glaze of ice and some areas are wet from rain. Freezing rain is more likely northwest toward McHenry and Rockford. Thundershowers have occurred overnight and into the early morning hours, and may continue through most of the daily light hours Thursday. Stronger thunderstorms are possible toward southeast areas of Chicagoland. A big temperature drop is forecast to begin about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and bring the air temperature to 15°F by midnight with wind chills below zero after midnight Thursday/Friday and all day Friday. The forecast low for Friday morning is 6°F about 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with wind chill at -14°F.
Strong west wind gusts will be near 40 MPH starting about 6:00 p.m. Thursday night, and continue to blow 30 MPH or higher until about noon Friday. Downed power lines and broken tree branches are possible Thursday afternoon and Thursday/Friday overnight.

Breezy, with an east southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
