The snow forecast for Sunday November 25, 2018 has taken a turn toward the extreme with Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs near the deepest forecast track connected to a Winter Storm Warning. The northwest suburbs are experiencing normal temperatures today after several days of below normal temperatures and one above normal temperature day yesterday. We might see little break in clouds around sunset and this evening, but then the weather turns nasty.
UPDATE …
Forecasters are expecting an approaching deep upper trough and an intensifying upper jet stream from the south to the northeast in our area. Snow depth is uncertain because forecasters are challenged by early season warmer air that makes it difficult to predict when rain will transition to snow or when snow will start to accumulate on the ground. Heavy snowfall amounts are expected to begin about 9:00 a.m. Arlington Heights and nearby communities could experience a 9.1″ snow depth by 5:00 a.m. Monday. The deepest snow (12″) currently is expected to fall along a line from DeKalb to Elgin-Woodstock to Waukegan. Snow is likely to be wet and heavy.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) in northeast Illinois is clear.
