VIDEO immediately after firefighter extinguished a fire at MarkSound Mobile Audio & Video on Roselle Road in Schaumburg.
Schaumburg police responded about 1:00 AM Sunday to a burglary alarm at MarkSound Mobile Audio & Video, 285 South Roselle Road, and discovered smoke coming from the roof. Firefighter/paramedics arrived and reported heavy smoke with smoke blowing out the back.
Schaumburg put an aerial to the roof, and interior attack firefighters reported a lot of smoke and very little heat while searching for the seat of the fire.
Firefighters broke out the front windows and used power saws to cut through some doors to the retail store. Firefighters also checked adjacent retail units — especially to the north — to check for extension. Winds were from the south at about 14 mph.
Firefighters reported the fire was out at about 1:30 a.m. Fire inspectors and building inspectors were called to the scene.
No injuries reported.
Compare this fire to another strip mall fire about 24 hours earlier in Glendale, Arizona. Firefighters arrived to find only light smoke showing, but discovered the fire was already in the attic and had extended to several businesses. Eventually three businesses were destroyed and 14 were damaged as 20-foot flames shot through the roof.
