Arlington Heights police responded about 8:20 PM Thursday October 25, 2018 to a report of a suspicious man near Derbyshire Lane and Chatham Place Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report from a homeowner that a man was crouched down near a house in a front yard on Derbyshire Lane north of Chatham Place. A homeowner requested police check on the status of the man.
Police arrived immediately, but the man had already left the area. He was last seen headed northbound on Derbyshire.
There was no interaction between the man and the homeowner, but police sought to investigate the 9-1-1 call to rule out any actions of criminal behavior and investigate the trespassing complaint.
The man was described as a male/white with a thin build and a “big beard” wearing dark clothes and carrying a backpack.
Police spoke with neighbors and searched for the man while illuminating yards in the area. Police also reminded neighbors to follow the 9PM Routine recommendation and make sure their vehicles are locked before they go to bed.
Police also recommended that people not confront anyone they see on their property, and instead call the police.
The incident is reported to have occurred about 8:20 p.m. or just before 8:20 p.m.
