Ryan J. Bloom, Richard J. McCann, Lizette M. Norman — suspects in burglary ring (Mount Prospect Police Department).
Three Elk Grove Village residents were arrested Wednesday after four weeks of surveillance on suspicion of an ongoing burglary operation that involved vehicle burglaries, residential burglaries, and construction site burglaries. Ryan J. Bloom, Richard J. McCann, Lizette M. Norman, who live in a residence in the 400 block of Perry Drive in Elk Grove Village, were charged with burglary and other offenses connected to home, vehicle and construction site burglaries; and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. When police advanced toward the suspects as they exited their vehicle parked near the residence, the Bloom and McCann immediately dropped bags containing suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
The proceeds from the crimes total tens of thousands of dollars, and were quickly sold on the street or to pawn or resale shops for cash. Much of the money was apparently used to fund their drug dependence.
A new feature of LeadsOnline Services — a national online investigation system used by law enforcement agencies — was used to view pawn shops receipts online, which helped investigators efficiently track the suspects.
Recovered items included numerous GPS devices, hand tools, power tools, power washers, vacuum cleaners and sporting goods.
McCann, on parole, was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, with bail set at $150,000.
Bloom was charged with three counts of burglary and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, with bail set $80,000.
Norman, also wanted by Lake County sheriff’s office on a felony warrant, was charged with three counts of burglary, with bail set at $75,000.
