UPDATE: Man alleged to have robbed and kidnapped a man in Streamwood turned himself in to police at Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie about 9:30 p.m.
Streamwood police responded about 11:20 AM Friday to a report of an armed robbery and attempted kidnapping at Park Boulevard and Lake Street in Streamwood. Police received a report that the offending vehicle is described as a white mid-1990s Chevy Cavalier with a male/black driver.
The offender is described as a male/black (light-skinned), 22-years-old, 5’10” 170 LBS with short hair and wearing a red short sleeve shirt with white stripes, and blue jeans, The offender was armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, which was recovered about 4:05 p.m. near the location where the offender was last seen.
The offender was last seen northbound on foot on Valley from Lake Street after pulling the vehicle into a local apartment parking lot. Expect a large search effort by police in the area. A police helicopter and K-9 units assisted in the search.
The victim, a 30-year-old man taken at gunpoint from his home in the 3000 block of Lynnwood Court, was able to escape. No injuries were reported.
Tefft Middle School, 1100 Shirley Avenue; Heritage Elementary School, 507 Arnold Avenue, Streamwood; and the Poplar Creek Public Library, 1405 South Park Avenue, Streamwood were in lockdown Friday afternoon.
The suspect was still at large as of midnight after the search was terminated.
