Elk Grove Village firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State Police responded about 12:27 AM Monday to a report of a crash on southbound Route 53 near Higgins Road. Elk Grove Village firefighter/paramedics reported one subject ran from the scene and was last seen heading northbound on foot on Martingale Road.
Schaumburg police were searching the area, and reported the crash occurred on Route 53 closer to Schaumburg Road. The hit-and-run offender was described as a male/black subject, 5’11” wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Schaumburg police received an update that the man ran westbound on Schaumburg Road.
