Park Ridge police responded about 9:30 PM Wednesday to a report of an armed robbery and stabbing near Elm Street and Wisner Street. Police discovered a cab driver stabbed and robbed. The offender was alleged to be a passenger in the cab. According to Park Ridge police, the cab was en route to O’Hare International Airport.
The cab driver, a 42-year-old resident of Chicago Ridge, suffered serious, but “non-life-threatening” injuries.
The offender was reported to have fled on foot westbound from the scene. Police K-9 units from Rosemont Police Department and Buffalo Grove Police Department assisted Park Ridge Police Department. Part of the search area included Prospect Avenue north of Touhy Avenue and Northwest Highway.
The offender was described as a male/white, 5’5″ to 5’7″ 150 LBS to 170 LBS, wearing a dark-colored shirt and khaki shorts.
Park Ridge police radios are encrypted. Information related to this crime was not immediately available to citizens and news media via any public domain radio communications. The information about this threat was delayed until a press release from Park Ridge Police Department was made available.
