Video of arcing power line with small fire threatening house about two feet away at Eastwood Avenue and Highland Street, Mount Prospect Thursday morning after a thunderstorm pass through.
Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:53 AM Thursday after a police officer discovered a power line down with arcing and fire threatening a house at the southeast corner of Eastwood and Highland. Apparently a branch near the intersection of Eastwood and Highland pulled down a power line and caused a snarled mess of wires along Highland. Some of the power lines threatened ignited a tree and the ground near the house. Ignition in a tall pine tree was limited, but a line on the ground ignited the grass and threatened to ignite the house near the foundation.
Com Ed responded within 25 minutes and immediately shut off the power, which stopped the arcing.
