Residential Burglary After Man Repeatedly Rings Doorbell on Brighton Pl, Arlington Heights

... #ad▼

Arlington Heights police responded about 11:57 AM Tuesday to an activated burglar alarm in the 1900 block of North Brighton Place. Police discovered a shattered rear door and entered the residence to search for a possible offender still in the residence. Police soon confirmed that a burglary occurred at the house and requested an evidence technician to respond to the scene. The offender was no longer at the crime scene.

With police already on the scene, the resident returned home — presumably after her alarm company notified her of the activated alarm. She reported to police that a man repeatedly rang the doorbell at about 11:00 a.m. today, but that she did not answer the door. The man was described as a male/Hispanic in his 20’s, 5’5″ medium build with black or brown hair, wearing a red collar polo shirt with a yellow emblem. The woman left her home a short time after the man repeatedly rang her doorbell. The residential burglar alarm was activated just before 11:53 a.m.

The offender or offenders entered the residence, went to the master bedroom, removed a pillow case from the bed and filled it with an unknown amount of cash and a few thousand dollars worth of jewelry. Based upon the various alarm sensors, the burglar was only in the home for three minutes.
