Attack Athletics, an elite West Side athletic/basketball training facility built by Michael Jordan’s trainer, Tim Grover, might fail to get lead creditor Michael Jordan his $1.5 million.

Attack Athletics opened in 2007 at 2641 W. Harrison St. with a 65,000 square foot facility, including four full-sized basketball courts, a 10,000-square-foot weight room, four NBA-sized basketball courts, seating for 1,000, and four locker rooms.

Attack Athletics “Client List” includes Charles Barkley, Derrick Brown, Kobe Bryant, Ron harper, Scottie Pippen and more.

But the facility has failed to pay bills, and a foreclosure notice was filed in 2010 by Old Second Mantional Bank of Aurora, regarding a $9.95 million loan to Grover.

Grover’s company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy filed bankruptcy on April 13, 2011, and listed claims for $12.2 million in its bankruptcy filing, which included a $2 million second mortgage to Chicago-based SomerCor 504, a non-profit development company certified to make Small Business Administration loans.

Ringgold Capital, which acquired the secured loan from Old Second Bank in early July 2012, has not released any information regarding the intent to go through with a foreclosure sale, and Attack Athletics has been operating since the foreclosure. The company website is still available for viewing at AttackAthletics.com.

Then presidential candidate and president-elect Barack Obama played a traditional Election Day basketball game at Attack Athletics on the Chicago’s West Side on November 4, 2008 and November 5, 2008. Obama played basketball there with Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias and Chicago schools chief Arne Duncan.
