Elk Grove Village police responded about 1 p.m. Sunday to a report of suspicious activity or burglary in progress on Greenleaf west of Lively. Offender were reportedly hiding or crouching near a wooded area at the rear of a commercial property.
Police were looking for a male/white subject and a male/black subject walking eastbound down the train tracks near Greenleaf and Lively — heading toward Lively.
Police apprehended a male/black subject by about 1:08 p.m. Sunday on the railroad tracks behind 812 Greenleaf Avenue. Another male subject continued to walk eastbound along the railroad tracks, while police waited to head him off on Lively Boulevard. Police were also out with another male/black subject on Greenleaf, just west of Lively Boulevard. No confirmation on whether the male/white subject was apprehended, or if the original description was bad.
A loaded magazine and a handgun were found in the offenders’ vehicle. The offenders’ vehicle parked behind 800 Greenleaf was towed to a police holding area.
Police also found seals cut on some trailers in the area.
Police transported at least two offenders to Elk Grove Village Police Headquarters.
