Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:09 p.m. Saturday to a report of crash involving three vehicles at Lake Cook Road and Buffalo Grove Road. Police received updated information that the crash involved a hit-and-run driver. The offending vehicle was described as a maroon Acura that fled southbound on Buffalo Grove Road and then eastbound on Dundee Road.
The driver of one of victim vehicles — a Toyota Camry — was trapped in his car, but he was not injured. Firefighters were called to the scene to open the car door.
A witness followed the vehicle and updated the police with license plate information. License registration was investigated and Wheeling police checked the registered address for the vehicle. At first police reported the vehicle was not at the registered home address, but further investigation by police revealed that the female driver attempted to hide the vehicle in the backyard. She didn’t want to get in trouble because she did not have a driver’s license.
She was arrested at the scene by Wheeling police officers. Buffalo Grove police arrived to the Wheeling residence, and transported the driver in custody to Buffalo Grove Police Department Headquarters.
