If remaining construction goes as planned, the new Arlington Heights police station will be opening soon — possibly even September 2018. On Monday, August 20, 2018 a custom-made power generator arrived. The backup power generator will be the largest power generator that the Village of Arlington Heights operates. The diesel-powered generator will be moved into place by a specialized rigging company.
The generator will be located at ground level, not underground as was stated in the original plans. Officials decided the underground location was too risky in case of flooding, which could damage the expensive asset.
Powerlink Electric with headquarters in Vernon Hills is installing and connecting the generator. The manufacturer of the generator is Cummins Inc. (CMI) with headquarters in Columbus, Indiana. The enclosure was built by Global Power Components with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
