Fog in the area very early Wednesday at Arlington Heights Road and Palatine Road as a warm front pushed north over cold ground in northeast Illinois.

Slight tornado risk just west of Arlington Heights and northwest suburbs all the way to northwest Illinois, most of Iowa, and eastern Nebraska. The highest risk is in eastern Nebraska and far western Iowa (valid until 7:00 p.m. May 2,2012).

NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

HAIL TO THE SIZE OF QUARTERS
GUSTS TO 60 MPH

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

LATE THIS MORNING INTO THE AFTERNOON…PRIMARILY SOUTH OF THE
INTERSTATES 88 AND 290 CORRIDOR…AND AGAIN TONIGHT PRIMARILY
NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR.

DISCUSSION:

A LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH THE REGION
THIS MORNING HAS LEFT AN OUTFLOW BOUNDARY ACROSS PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL ILLINOIS. THIS BOUNDARY MAY BE THE FOCUS FOR ADDITIONAL
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT AS INSTABILITY BEGINS TO BUILD THROUGH
THE LATE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. FOR TONIGHT…ADDITIONAL
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IS EXPECTED OVER PORTIONS OF IOWA ON THE
NOSE OF A LOW LEVEL JET…AND SHOULD GROW UPSCALE INTO A
THUNDERSTORM COMPLEX AND MOVE EAST INTO NORTHERN ILLINOIS ALONG
THE WARM FRONT AS IT STRADDLES THE ILLINOIS AND WISCONSIN STATE
LINE.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

THERE WILL BE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS FOR THE ENTIRE
OUTLOOK AREA THROUGH THE WEEK. SOME POTENTIAL WILL EXIST FOR
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY…WITH THE PRIMARY THREATS BEING
LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND.
