Arlington Heights police were following a wanted subject who was also suspected to be a DUI driver starting at about Euclid and Northwest Highway at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The driver failed to stop for police with their lights and sirens activated and headed eastbound on Euclid Avenue, and then southbound on Arlington Heights Road.
At about 2:31 a.m. police supervisor was checking on the speed of the suspect to determine whether to terminate following the suspect. Before police could decide whether to terminate following the suspect, he crashed at Arlington Heights Road and Park Street at about 2:32 a.m. The suspect crashed his vehicle through a light standard and into a house in the 100 block of East Park Street. Police immediately had the driver in custody. The suspect was transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters — arrested DUI and with other unknown charges. He was also wanted by police.
Firefighter/paramedics were immediately requested at the scene. By 2:35 a.m. police discovered that there were no injuries to anyone in the home.
The suspect was possibly transported to the hospital later in the day. Witnesses reported seeing what they thought was a police prisoner situation with Arlington Heights police at Northwest Community Hospital on Sunday.
