Chicago police and fire department paramedics responded about 6:00 a.m. Monday to 7715 South South Shore Drive to a report of a man with multiple bites after he was attacked by two pit bulls. Emergency responders were called by neighborhood residents when the man was heard screaming for help.
The man suffered bites on his face and much of his body, legs and arms. He was transported to Level I Trauma Center Stroger Hospital.
Both dogs, which were chocolate brown with white spots, were shot and killed by police when it appeared the dogs were ready to attack the police.
