Police are investigating a fatal shooting just outside the Occupy Oakland encampment that protesters say was unrelated to the movement. Meanwhile police say a 35-year-old veteran fatally shot himself at an Occupy Wall Street encampment in Burlington, Vermont.

Oakland police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5 p.m. Thursday to a shooting after a man was shot in the head outside a BART station exit in Frank Ogawa Plaza, at 14th Street and Broadway. He was transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland.
After the shooting protesters were shouting, “This is not Occupy Oakland!” The location is near an encampment where problems with drug use, vagrant, mentally ill subjects, fights and robberies have been reported.
Protesters obstructed video capture of the event, and KGO-TV cameraman Randy Davis was punched in the back of the head while he was operating his camera.

Burlington police and paramedics responded Thursday afternoon to a tent in City Hall Park to a shooting incident where a man apparently shot himself. The man was transported Thursday night to a hospital in Burlington, Vermont. People who new the man said he was a veteran and that he shot himself in the head.
