A minivan carrying seven people was rear-ended by a semi-trailer truck in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80/90 between Bristol and Middlebury (mile marker 103.5) just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
The minivan was carrying ten people with the wreckage coming to a rest in the center median area. Seven people were killed in the minivan, three people were injured in the minivan, and the semi-trailer truck drive was injured.
The accident scene is under investigation with lanes in both direction closed for an extended time period. The van may have stopped or slowed in a traffic lane after hitting a deer.
