Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:00 a.m. Tuesday to a wide area power line problems from the area of 400 East Gregory Street to Kensington Road near Wheeling Road.
Firefighters received a report of “a large spark” north of Christian Life Church. A live wire also fell near the intersection of Kensington Road and Wheeling Road. The power line was down across Kensington Road, which required that Kensington Road be blocked during the morning rush hour.
Police and firefighters checked the area for any other downed power lines. Numerous business had their fire alarms activated for trouble conditions.
Firefighters reported a primary line was involved. ComEd responded and was working in the area by 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Kensington Road was re-opened about 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.
