Buffalo Grove police responded about 7:00 a.m. Saturday to a threat involving a handgun in the 400 block of Indian Hill Drive. Police were called to assist the paramedics for a medical call, but were updated that some type of behavior involving a gun presented a threat by a man who lives in the house.
Police were able to get the subject’s wife out of the house safely, were in the process of evacuating neighbors, and were activating the ILEAS/NIPAS team between 7:00 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Arlington Heights police were also called for immediate backup. Some neighbors were advised to exit their homes in the direction away from the subject’s house. Others were advised to get in their basements.
At 7:20 a.m. the man came out of the house, after police were able to negotiate with the man to come out of his house. He was in custody and secured at 7:20 a.m. Saturday.
The ILEAS/NIPAS team response and the backup response from Arlington Heights police was called off.
Neighbors were immediately notified that they were allowed to return to their houses or come out of their basements. No word on whether the man was transported to the hospital or taken into custody.
