A diligent Arlington Heights police officer, just outside his Arlington Heights beat, spotted the offending vehicle in a hit-and-run case parked in a condominium/apartment parking lot on the north side of Buffalo Grove. He spotted the vehicle unoccupied, parked near a condo swimming pool at about 6:20 p.m. Cook County Sheriff’s police were notified, since the crash occurred in their jurisdiction. Cook County Sheriff’s police arrived at the scene about 7:15 p.m. The driver is reported in custody, but the exact location of his arrest his not known.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department had alerted area police departments of a hit-and-run crash that occurred on westbound Dundee Road, west of Route 53. The offending vehicle also struck a light pole during the personal injury crash that occurred about 4:09 p.m. Monday. The offending vehicle was reported to be a silver Honda Accord with license K 132 981 — presumably Illinois.
The offending vehicle was expected to have heavy front end passenger side damage, and was last seen fleeing eastbound on Dundee Road. The driver was wanted for leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.
Arlington Heights and Palatine firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:15 p.m. Monday to check on an injured child after the crash. Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics transported one patient to a local hospital.
