Arlington Heights police received a report about 9:15 p.m. Saturday of retail theft at Dominick’s, 325 East Palatine Road. Police received a report that a manager was chasing three subjects into the parking lot, heading toward Best Buy.
Initially there was a report that one of the subject had a gun, but that was quickly reported to be false by police on the scene.
Police also received a report that one of the subjects may have been hiding in Burger King. Police were immediately on the scene, but initially there was no sign of the manager or any of the subjects pursued. One police officer saw a subject with a green T-shirt and blue jeans on a cell phone standing near Pavlis Furs, east of the area about 9:20 p.m.. That subject ran behind when he saw police. Police searched the rear of the shopping centers near Pavlis Furs and found no subjects. There is a tall fence to residential yards and a gateway to Douglas and Clarence behind the shopping centers. Police took a quick perimeter and search in the Douglas and Clarence area and stopped one car, but the people in the car were not connected to the crime at Dominick’s.
The offenders were described as (#1) male/white, late teens, 5’8″ thin build, medium to long blond hair with a “European look” wearing a green-striped shirt and blue jeans; (#2) male/white, late teens, 5’8″ thin build, short/brown hair, wearing eyeglasses, a white polo shirt (collar), and blue jeans; and (#3) male/white late teens, 5’8″ thin build, short/brown hair, with no clothing description available.
A getaway vehicle possibly picked up the offenders in the neighborhood just south of the shopping center, between Douglas and Charles and Dryden and Charles.
