Palatine Police received a report about 11:25 p.m. Friday of shots fired from a handgun in the area of Northwest Highway east of Route 53. Police received a report that a witness saw shots fired from a handgun out of a black sedan that was westbound on Northwest Highway. The witness reported two subjects inside the black sedan, and was not certain if the vehicle entered Route 53. Palatine police, Rolling Meadows police and Arlington Heights police responded to the area.
A Rolling Meadows police officer reported hearing the shots fired about 11:27 p.m. Friday from the area of Berdnick Street, which is just west of Harvest Bible Chapel and just west of Northwest Highway and Route 53 — near Rohlwing Road and Northwest Highway.
A Palatine police officer also reported hearing shots fired (three to four rounds far off from “Route 14 and 53”) about 11:34 p.m. — further north on Route 53. Apparently a second sequence of shots was fired, possibly as far north as Palatine Road. The vehicle possibly entered Route 53.
Arlington Heights police and Palatine police responded to the area of the United States Postal distribution center. Another witness there reported the vehicle with the subjects firing the shots was possibly a black Chevy Monte Carlo.
