…FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR NORTHERN COOK…LAKE…NORTHERN DEKALB…BOONE…WINNEBAGO…OGLE…MCHENRY AND NORTHERN KANE COUNTIES UNTIL 630 AM CDT…
AT 250 AM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
THAT THE HEAVIEST THUNDERSTORMS HAD MOVED SOUTHEAST OUT OF THE
WARNED AREA…WITH A LARGE AREA OF LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN…WHICH
WILL CONTINUE TO DIMINISH THROUGH 4 AM CDT. DOPPLER RADAR ALSO
ESTIMATED BETWEEN 3 AND 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAD FALLEN OVER A LARGE
AREA FROM SOUTHERN MCHENRY AND SOUTHERN LAKE COUNTIES INTO NORTHERN COOK COUNTIES.
WHILE ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN IS NOT EXPECTED OVERNIGHT…RUNOFF FROM THE HEAVY RAIN THAT HAS ALREADY FALLEN WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS WITH FLASH FLOODING STILL POSSIBLE…ESPECIALLY IN AREAS THAT RECEIVED HEAVY RAIN FRIDAY MORNING.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED…ACT QUICKLY. DO NOT
ENTER THE WATER. TURN AROUND AND MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND. DO NOT
STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.
