VIDEO from crash scene at Old Wilke Road, just north of White Oak Street immediately after two victims were extricated from the silver Ford Explorer. The hood and front fenders were darkened before the crash.
Guadalupe Romero, 27, of Rolling Meadows, faces felony charges of aggravated battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and three counts of endangering a child after she is accused of deliberately crashing her Jeep Liberty into her husband’s Ford Explorer several times about 7:10 p.m. Sunday.
Guadalupe Romero was driving a 2004 Jeep Liberty when she spotted her husband, Alfonso Fiero, driving with another woman. She repeatedly rammed his 2002 Ford Explorer from behind and then struck the vehicle’s left quarter panel, sending it off the road and into a tree.
Alfonso Fiero, 35, was also charged with a misdemeanor DUI after the crash.
Romero wanted to stop Fiero, and pursued the vehicle with her three children — ages 2, 5, and 8 — in passenger seats in the Jeep Liberty.
Raquel Cabrera, 34, of Rolling Meadows, was the female passenger who required extrication that involved removing her through the front windshield of Fiero’s silver Ford Explorer. Cabrera was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. She is currently in stable condition.
Romero’s children were treated and released at Northwest Community Hospital.
Guadalupe Romero is scheduled to appear in court on July 7, 2011.
