UPDATE: Nephew found and safe. Maya White dropped off nephew, Elijah, at a house nearby and took off. She was still missing as of Friday night, but police found her on Saturday.
Chicago police have issued alerts for a missing 14-year-old Northwest Side girl and her 3-year-old nephew she was pulling in a wagon.
Both were last seen about 6:30 p.m. Thursday after they bought a pizza near Pulaski Road and Wilson Avenue with their mother watching nearby.
The girl’s mother was driving alongside them because the wagon wouldn’t fit in her car. The girl’s mother was forced to pull ahead because of traffic. When she drove ahead to Wilson Avenue and waited for the children to catch up, but they never arrived
The girl, Maya White, is described as white, 5’5″ 145 LBS, with green eyes, black hair and an olive complexion. She was wearing an orange shirt, white skirt and blue jeans with black gym shoes.
Maya was pulling a tan-and-blue wagon carrying Elijah Williams, who was holding a “Sesame Street” blanket. Elijah is described as 3′ 35 LBS, with blue eyes and blond hair. He was wearing a long-sleeve shirt, and brown-and-gray pants.
Elijah’s family is offering a $1,000 reward for the children’s safe return.
