Springfield police responded about 9:10 a.m. to the home of Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin, 2604 Apple Creek Drive, Springfield.

Illinois State Police are investigating the case.

The State Journal-Register is reporting that Mayor Tim Davlin, 53, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
