Arlington Heights police responded just before 5:10 PM Saturday to a report of a shoplifter fleeing Kohl’s in the 800 block of West Dundee Road. Police received a report that a shoplifter attempted to back her vehicle into a security agent that was attempting to detain her at the store.The vehicle was reported to be driven recklessly through the parking lot.
The offender was described as a female/black about 4’10” to 5’0” in her mid-30’s accompanied by two children estimated to be 5-8-years-old. The offender was driving a blue Chevy Trailblazer, and security was able to obtain a license number. Information was on the vehicle and offender was forwarded to Wheeling Police Department, and Wheeling police officers were alerted to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
The vehicle was last seen by security heading toward Ridge Avenue near Portillo’s.
While Arlington Heights police were investigating the case at Kohl’s, Wheeling police stopped the offender in her vehicle near Elmhurst Road and McHenry Road. The Arlington Heights police officer investigating the case and a backup Arlington Heights police officer proceeded to the Wheeling traffic stop and took the offender into custody. The female driver was transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The driver’s Chevy Trailblazer was towed to a police holding area.
