DASHCAM VIDEO: Boca Raton Police Officer Jimmy Jalil Jr.
Boca Raton Police Officer Jimmy Jalil Jr. responded Wednesday about 7:50 p.m., Jalil, 32, sped to the scene of crash on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 95 north of the Glades Road exit, where a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was burning with a woman trapped inside.
Even a baton and a fire extinguisher wouldn’t break the windows, so Jalil asked the woman who trapped to move so she would be safe when he shot out a glass window. The one-vehicle crash into a light pole fractured her tibia in the lower leg. David Michael Mattheu, the driver of the SUV, was killed in the crash when he an another passenger, not wearing seat belts, were ejected during the crash. The other passenger, Shawn Thomas, 25, was transported to Delray Medical Center and is expected to recover.
