Arlington Heights police responded about 4:20 PM Saturday to a report of a battery in progress in the 300 block of North Salem Avenue. Police responded to the address and found blood outside the apartment building. The officers followed a trail of blood to an apartment unit on the second floor. Police got no response from anyone inside the apartment unit.
An apartment management agent was able to open the apartment and police were able to determine a victim name and also determined that the victim was bleeding profusely.
Police put out an ‘all points bulletin/check for well being’ for the victim about 4:30 p.m. About 4:50 p.m. police received a call from the victim –that he was lying next to his bike across Northwest Highway from Jimmy’s at Euclid Avenue. A few minutes later police found the victim at Northwest Highway and Euclid Avenue.
Police were able to get offender information from the victim. The offender was described as a male/white, wearing a goatee and eyeglasses, about 50-years-old with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police apprehended a suspect at 5:05 p.m. near the crime scene. Arlington Heights police are investigating. One adult male was transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office was notified of the case.
