Raymond Zalewa, 23, of Prospect Heights, was killed Tuesday when he was crushed by several sheets of lead-lined drywall that fell on him in a storage area at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Zawela was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday at Condell.
The lead-lined drywall or gypsum was being used to renovate an x-ray room where the special drywall, which is heavier because of the lead, block x-rays.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the accident.
