Kildeer police initiated a vehicle pursuit about 2:20 AM Tuesday when police spotted a reported stolen gray 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee and reported a current location of eastbound Route 14 at Route 53 headed toward Arlington Heights. The suspect entered southbound Route 53 and proceeded to Euclid Avenue. The suspect maneuvered at Euclid Avenue and headed back northbound Route 53 at high speed and exited westbound Lake Cook Road. The pursuit continued northbound on Hicks Road until the Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed at Route 53 and Route 83. The suspect then fled on foot northbound in a field. His last known location was possibly the northeast corner of Arlington Heights Road and Route 83. It is unknown if the crash was a one-vehicle crash or if it involved another vehicle.
Cook County Sheriff’s police deputies, Lake County Sheriff’s police deputies, and Buffalo Grove police were involved in the pursuit and/or search. Arlington Heights police were also positioned in the area.
Buffalo Grove police searched the area with a K-9 unit.
The suspect is a known gang member who was believed to have stolen the Jeep Grand Cherokee at Route 120 and Pine Grove in Lakemoor at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspect was declared ‘at large’ at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect is described as a male/white in his 20’s, wearing a black shirt and a black baseball hat with stitches on his lip. The suspect is known to carry a knife.
