Lake County Sheriff’s deputies, Barrington & Countryside firefighter/paramedics and Lake Zurich firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:21 a.m. Saturday April 28, 2018 to a report of an accidental gunshot wound suffered by a 66-year-old man in the block of 27000 West Highland Road in Barrington.
The man was reported to have been hit by a bullet above his knee at his home on West Highland Road in Barrington. He was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital with an injury that was not initially believed to be life-threatening.
The man was cleaning or handling a semiautomatic pistol that his wife recently purchased and accidentally shot himself, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
