Arlington Heights police received a report about 5:45 p.m. Monday that Target security personnel were chasing an offender suspected of shoplifting in the Target store at Rand Road and Thomas Street.
When the offender noticed security approaching, he tossed a bluetooth headset that he was apparently suspected of shoplifting.
The offender was described as a male/white 5′ 11″ 200 LBS with a shaved head and goatee. He was reported to be wearing a red and black Chicago Blackhawks jersey, a black hat and sunglasses. The offender ran toward the Roto-Lincoln/Subaru dealership, and was seen southbound in a rear parking lot of the dealership.
The offender possibly got inside a white or silver Ford van with a ladder on top that fled the area — heading northwestbound on Rand Road.
Arlington Heights police searched the area, and are investigating.
