Ask Paul B: Fear Strikes Out!

... #ad▼

Dear Paul B,

I am so scared of asking girls out, and I always seem to lose my nerve when I am ready to do it. I am 16, and I really like this one girl,
but she is so nice and so beautiful, I think I will have a heart attack when I am ready to even say Hi to her. What should I do?

Anthony

++++++++++++++++

Dear Anthony,

I too was scared as a young boy. I waited so long to ask some girls out, they were married and pregnant by time I got up the nerve. Don’t hesitate–they’re just people. The worst thing that could happen is a “No,” but at least you can sleep knowing that you weren’t a coward. I owned a dating service and had a customer walk in who was “drop dead gorgeous.” She told me that men were afraid of her because she was so pretty, but she was actually very lonely. She ended up marrying a member who was a great guy, and was 3 inches shorter than her. They are married eight years now, and boy, was he lucky to have asked her out. Nothing to lose, sport!!!
