Arlington, Texas firefighters rescued people from a flooded apartment building using a ladder truck. Macia Culley of Arlington, Texas was one of the first to be rescued, but she had to wait anxiously near the scene because her infant granddaughter was one of the later victims to be rescued.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine caused widespread flooding in northern Texas and began buffeting southern Oklahoma on Wednesday, killing at least two people and submerging low-lying pockets of Arlington under several feet of water.
One man was killed outside of Alvarado, Texas while firefighters were attempting to rescue him. The man in Johnson County was swept away this morning after getting out of his pickup in 6-foot-deep water on County Road 607 outside Alvarado. Firefighters were trying to rescue the man when currents took him under.
