Rashe Watkins, 33, and Julius Watkins, 29, two Waukegan brothers arrested on charges of armed robbery of National City Bank on Route 22 in Long Grove in October, and attempted robbery of a Gurnee credit union January 29. At the credit union robbery attempt, police arrived on the scene while the robbery was underway. A police officer saw a laser light aimed toward himself. He was able to duck and avoid shots that were fired in his direction by one of the Watkins brothers.
At the National City Bank robbery, over $14,000 was obtained, and a cell phone registered to Rashe Watkins was used for a phone call that hit the cell tower near national City Bank on Route 22 in Long Grove. Rashe Watkins also purchased a gun and laser sight attachment at a Waukegan gun store.
Both men face charges in a court appearance Monday, February 8, 2010 at Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago — Magistrate Judge Michael Mason presiding.

The western division includes Boone, Carroll, De Kalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago. Its sessions are held in Freeport and Rockford.
