North Riverside managed a vehicle crash with multiple injuries and entrapment at Cermak and 14th Avenue in North Riverside near the Broadview Village Square shopping center 8:15 a.m. An EMS Box to the second level was requested by North Riverside Fire Department. One victim was trapped in an SUV that was crashed into a light pole. The victim was trapped until about 8:50 a.m. in freezing weather about 15°F. The victim was freed by extrication procedures by fire department rescue crews. Victims were transported to Level I Trauma Center Loyola University Hospital in Maywood and Level II Trauma Center MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn.
Fire departments from Berwyn, Broadview, Brookfield, Cicero, and Forest Park assisted North Riverside.

Just over two years ago two teens were killed after their car went airborne and struck a tree on a Saturday night, January 27, 2007. Two other teens were also injured in the crash. The four teenagers were eastbound on Burlington Street on their way to the North Riverside Mall alongside another car when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Riverside police received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting for the crash that occurred near 251 E. Burlington St. at 9:08 p.m.
