Hoffman Estates police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:01 AM Sunday February 25, 2018 to a report of a detached garage fire near a 1-story home, 505 Glendale Ln Hoffman Estates, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that of a detached garage fire that is approximately 5 feet from a 1-story home.
Police on arrival report a fully-involved detached garage with large flames over the building by 2:04 a.m.
Engine 21’s crew on arrival reports a large fire from a garage behind the house by 2:05 a.m.
Engine 21’s crew assigned interior for the garage by 2:08 a.m.
Saws were needed to breach the garage door to access the fire about 2:12 a.m.
The fire was through the roof with a large amount of fire still inside the garage about 2:14 a.m.
Ambulance 23’s crew was assigned RIT at 2:19 a.m.
A second line was needed up the driveway for significant fire coming from a vehicle that was burning in the garage.
Two lines were on the fire.
A primary search was complete and negative inside the house by 2:21 a.m. while the garage fire was not yet under control.
Battalion Chief 6 reported the fire was under control by 2:23 a.m., and reported the fire was out by 2:28 a.m.
Initially there were no known injuries.
Winds during firefighting operations were about 24-26 MPH with gusts from 39-46 MPH from the west.
