WINTER STORM WARNING ACROSS ALL COUNTIES OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS

Snow in excess of 8″ is very likely for some areas in Chicagoland. In Arlington Heights, snow flurries and light snow will begin about 5 PM and increase in intensity about 7 PM Thursday February 8, 2018. The intense period of snowfall is forecast to continue until 5 PM Friday near Arlington Heights. Snow with lower snowfall rates is expected to continue until about 5 PM Saturday.

About 11 inches of snow accumulation is forecast for Arlington Heights by 5 PM Friday. Just over 11 inches of snow is forecast by midnight Friday/Saturday. Some areas in Arlington Heights or Chicagoland may experience more than 12″ of snowfall. The deepest snowfall might occur between I-90 and I-80. There could be a lot of variability of snow depth in a 50-mile range north-to-south. Targeting the precise accumulation in Chicagoland counties with certainty is not known this Thursday morning at dawn. The additional accumulation Saturday is also uncertain Thursday morning.

Some areas may see snowfall rates of more than 1 inch per hour.
