
Police, firefighters and paramedics from Wheeling responded about 12:28 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025 to a report of a house fire in the block of 0-99 Versailles Court in Wheeling. Neighbors reported flames shooting out of a window at the rear of the home and on the west side of the home. The call was upgraded to a working fire by 12:31 p.m.
A header was visible from Milwaukee Avenue and Palatine Road.
Battalion 43 on arrival reported smoke coming from the front and second floor of the home and the the right, rear corner of the home. The fire was especially located on the rear, right corner. The fire extended into the attic.
No residents were home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Firefighters received a report that the homeowner was on their way to their house due to the reported fire at their home.
Fire command reported that there was possibly the sound of underground arcing near the ComEd meter. Command also reported that the electric meter was compromised. There was initially no word whether the fire damaged the electric meter, or if an electric problem caused the fire.
The fire was reported knocked by about 1:06 p.m.
