The Woodridge Police Department and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Department responded about 8:45 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025 to a report that a vehicle had crashed into a residence in the block of 2400 Kildeer Street, Woodridge
Upon arrival, police, firefighters and paramedics discovered that a Tesla electric vehicle had left the roadway from Janes Avenue, and struck a single-family home in the block of 2400 Kildeer Street. The electric vehicle was fully-involved in flames, and part of the home was also beginning to be involved with the fire.
Lisle-Woodridge firefighters were able to remove the vehicle from the home, and extinguish the fire. Neighbors said firefighters spent a couple of hours to extinguish the Tesla fire. Rescuers discovered that the vehicle was occupied by two individuals. Both crash victims were pronounced deceased on scene.
No injuries were sustained by residents of the home.
The DuPage County Coroner was called to the scene, as well as the DuPage MERIT Major Crash Reconstruction Team.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The DuPage Coroner’s Office is working to properly identified the deceased and notify the next of kin.
Security video indicates the driver of the Tesla was northbound on Janes Avenue, and was either attempting to turn left onto westbound Kildeer Street, or lost control and veered left into the house on the northwest corner of Kildeer Street and Janes Avenue.
Northbound Janes Avenue takes a slight right-hand curve at the intersection with Kildeer Street. Also, Janes Avenue is a two-lane street (one lane in each direction) with a curbed grass median with trees. The Speed Limit on Janes Avenue is 25 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View images captured July 2021.
