Shots Fired Incident on Sherman Ave Elgin Related to Domestic Disturbance

Elgin police officers responded about 4:57 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 to the block of 700 Sherman Avenue in Elgin for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers confirmed shots had been fired in relation to a domestic matter. After further investigation, 52 year-old Adolfo Castillo, of the block of 700 Sherman Avenue in Elgin, was taken into custody without incident.

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Mr. Castillo with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm (Class 4 Felony).

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Mr. Castillo was transported to the Kane County Jail for a pre-trial detention hearing, where the Kane County Judge ordered him to be released with pretrial conditions pending a future court date.

The public is reminded that an arrest is not evidence of guilt, and all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
