Elgin police officers responded about 5:47 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024 to a report of shots fired in the block of 700 Jefferson Avenue in Elgin. for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Elgin police officers confirmed that shots were fired.
After further investigation, 30-year-old Lizrick Ellis, of the block of 500 Wingate Drive in Schaumburg, was taken into custody.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Mr. Ellis was transported to the Cook County Jail for a pre-trial detention hearing, where the Judge ordered him to be detained pending a future court date.
Lizrick S. Ellis was held without bond in Cook County Jail Division 6. His next court date is February 28, 2025 in Cook County Circuit Court Rolling Meadows.
