DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly announced today, Thursday, February 13, 2025, that a Downers Grove man has been charged with threatening Illinois State Representative Anne Stava-Murray, a Democrat from Downers Grove. William Dzadon allegedly left threatening phone messages for her in November 2024. On February 7, 2025, Judge Alex McGimpsey issued an arrest warrant for William Dzadon, age 71, of the 100 block of 55th Street, who has been charged with two counts of Threatening a Public Official, a Class 3 Felony. On February 11, 2024, Dzadon turned himself in to the Illinois State Police and was released on personal recognizance the same day.

According to the Felony Complaint, which was filed with the Court on February 7, 2025, on November 13, 2024, at approximately 6:22 p.m., Dzadon allegedly “knowingly delivered to Illinois State Representative Anne Stava-Murray, a telephone voicemail containing a threat stating “Quit filling my mailbox with your f***ing b******t every other day you buck-toothed, ugly b**** and now you’re gonna start f***ing harassing me on the telephone. F*** you. I’ll come to your f***ing office and f***ing blow you up.” The complaint further alleges that approximately four minutes later, Dzadon left a second message in which he stated “Where do you live? Let me know so I can f***ing return the favor to you.”

“Regardless of circumstances or intent, threatening an elected official, as alleged against Mr. Dzadon, is an extremely serious allegation and will not be tolerated in DuPage County. Our elected officials have an extremely difficult job and should not be subject to harassment, intimidation or threats of any kind. I commend the Illinois State Police for their work on this case and for their continued efforts in keeping our elected officials throughout the state safe. I also thank Assistant State’s Attorney Philip Ungar for his work in preparing a strong case against Mr. Dzadon.”

— DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin

“The Illinois State Police take threats to all public officials seriously because those threats can prevent those officials from being able to safely do the job the public expects them to do. ISP appreciates DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and his office for taking these threats seriously as well.”

— Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly

Dzadon’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 19. 2025, for arraignment in front of Judge Mia McPherson.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
