Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Milwaukee District West Metra Train Near Downtown Roselle

A pedestrian was struck and killed by Milwaukee District West line train #2249 near Main Street and Prospect Street in Roselle Monday night.

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Roselle, and Metra police responded about 8:39 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2025 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a Metra train on the Milwaukee District West line near Main Street and Prospect Street in Roselle.

The victim was found deceased at the scene when police, firefighters and paramedics arrived.

Inbound and outbound trains were halted near downtown Roselle, west of Medinah.

Extensive delays on the Milwaukee District West line occurred, Train #2251 was on the move by 10:05 p.m., both tracks were cleared by 10:45 p.m., and train traffic resumed to normal by 11:15 p.m.

On the schedule, Metra Train #2249 is an outbound train (from Chicago) that was due to arrive in downtown Roselle at 8:31 p.m. and at the next station, Schaumburg, at 8:37 p.m.

The DuPage County Coroner’s Office was notified and arranged removal of the body from the scene. The identity of the victim, a resident of Roselle, was not initially released.

Metra Police are investigating the fatal pedestrian incident.

The Roselle Police Department, on Facebook, stated that the Police Social Services Division is available by phone at 630-671-4007 for anyone requiring additional support.
