Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 12:24 PM Wednesday January 1, 2025 to an armed robbery at the Marathon gas station, 36809 North Route 83 in unincorporated Lake Villa, Illinois. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies received a report that an offender attempted to rob the Marathon gas station while imply to have a weapon.
The initial reported indicated that a female white with a handgun attempted to rob the gas station and fled in a black van with Georgia license plates. After investigation, sheriff deputies indicated that the weapon was implied under clothing, and that a Flock camera (roadside License Plate Reader camera) image was captured that identified the vehicle as a black Ford expedition.
The suspect and vehicle were in custody by 1:11 p.m. after a traffic stop by local police near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Hunt Club Road in a retail area near Walmart and Sam’s Club in Gurnee. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies immediately arrived at the traffic stop to investigate, and took a female into custody. The female was identified as Christina A. Lintner, age 40, of Gurnee.
The suspect is accused of entering the gas station, implying she had a firearm while holding her hand in the shape of a gun under her sweatshirt, and then demanding cash from the clerk. The gas station clerk refused the female suspect’s demands, and then the female suspect attempted to break into the cash register drawer on her own. She also attempted to take the gas station clerk’s cell phone. The suspect did not successfully enter the cash register, and she left the gas station without any cash and without the clerk’s phone.
Lake County Sheriff’s police dispatchers broadcast the first Lake County area alert of 2025 on ISPERN (Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network) to area police officers, and a short time later the suspect and vehicle were located by local police in Gurnee about six miles east of the crime scene.
