DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lisle Chief of Police James Kruger announced that Judge Joshua Dieden has granted the State’s motion to detain pre-trial a Lisle male suspect accused of possessing thousands of images of child pornography. Charles Eastes, age 67, of the 900 block of Lacey Avenue, appeared in First Appearance Court yesterday, Monday, January 27, 2025 charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography – Victim under 13 (Class 2 Felony) and two counts of Child Pornography (Class 3 Felony).
The Lisle Police Department received information on December 24, 2024 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding possible child pornography in DuPage County. Through the course of their investigation, detectives were led to Eastes. On January 8, 2025, the Lisle Police Department executed a search warrant at Eastes’ residence which allegedly uncovered images of child pornography on Eastes’ cell phone, desktop computer and iPad. Authorities allegedly also located numerous photos of middle school aged girls waiting at a bus stop located directly outside Eastes’ home, allegedly taken by Eastes. Following the search, Eastes was taken into custody.
“Child pornography is not a victimless crime. Year after year, hundreds of thousands of images are downloaded and shared over the Internet with each image representing yet another innocent, young victim of child pornography. To protect these innocent victims, my office stands ready to vigorously prosecute any allegations of child pornography. What I find extremely disturbing in this case is the allegation that in addition to thousands of images of child pornography, Mr. Eastes also possessed numerous images that he took himself of neighborhood girls as they waited for the bus outside his residence. I thank the Lisle Police Department for their work on this case and for their continuing efforts to protect our children from child pornographers. I would also like to thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Sean Kinsella and Melissa Kravich for their work on this case”
— DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin
“These cases are challenging on even the most hardened investigators who are also parents and grandparents and I sincerely appreciate DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and our detectives for the collaboration and hard work they put into this case.”
— Lisle Chief of Police James Kruger
Eastes’ next court appearance is scheduled for February 24, 2025, in front of Judge Joseph Bugos.
Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
